Villa Maria School’s Occupational Therapy (OT) program supports students in developing the foundational skills needed to improve their academic participation, self-regulation, and independence required for daily success.
occupational therapy

Our OT works with students who may experience difficulties with relation to the following skill areas: fine motor, gross motor, handwriting, visual motor, visual perceptual, ocular-motor, executive functioning, motor planning (praxis), sensory processing, emotional regulation, social participation, daily living skills (ADLs: activities of daily living skills), and more.
For many neurodiverse learners, OT plays an important role in helping them better understand and regulate their emotions and bodies. This helps them feel more comfortable, confident, and successful across various environments throughout their school day.

OT services are integrated thoughtfully into the daily school experience, often occurring within authentic classroom, recreational, or social settings, helping students apply skills naturally throughout their day. This integrated model also allows the OT to model and collaborate directly with teachers, equipping them with real-time strategies to help support the student. In addition to classroom integration, students may also receive individual or small group pull-out OT services as determined by their learning profile and developmental goals.
Villa’s collaborative and compassionate approach to OT recognizes that emotional regulation, physical comfort, and confidence are the foundation for all learning and growth.
